It's Spring!!

Today is the first day of Spring! Yippee!!

The Bag Lady's area is under a heavy snowfall warning. Sigh.

Tomorrow morning could look like this:

Or even worse!

Spring sometimes takes it's own sweet time arriving in northern Alberta, so the Bag Lady is accustomed to this. Doesn't mean she likes it, just that she's used to it!

So, is it spring yet where you live?

  1. Happy Spring! It's supposed to be fairly nice today and it's a clear morning.
    Bodes well. So far.

  2. Ugh, Baggie. I don't want to see any more of that white stuff around here. It's totally melted at my place. Many of those ice blocks remain at Frank's (where I am right now.. home this afternoon) and there's snow in the heavier forested areas. And yet he's got patchy green stuff happening here and there, and I don't. It's been mild but colder the last couple of days. I want my spring too! I hope you get far less snow (like none) than anticipated.

  3. Happy Spring to you, too, cousin! Glad it's nice where you are.

Hilary - there's a chance the snow won't get this far. Wouldn't hurt my feelings!
Saw on the news the other night that there was no snow left in your area - won't tell you what the Rancher said..... :)

  4. Frost this morning, but sweater weather yesterday. The grass is starting to grow. I'll try to urge it northwards before your calves are on the ground, how's that?

I discovered this morning that the rising sun shines directly in my face at the equinox. No more lying in bed vainly trying to catch up on my sleep. (My father woke me up at 3:30 this morning.)

  5. I think it started to turn Spring here in January. :) Today we're going to be in the 80s here in San Antonio.

  6. Mary Anne in Kentucky - thanks! Urge away - I'm ready for grass. Really.

SB - 80?????? Sheesh, I'd be happy with half that!

  7. Supposed to get slightly above freezing today, but the wind chill will kill any ideas of spring.

  9. Reb - sheesh - will spring ever arrive? Snow here - wind there (actually, we have a cold wind blowing today, too, maybe it will keep the snow from blowing in?)

Rupal - flowers? Oh, I long for flowers!! Happy Spring to you, too, and I hope your cold weekend doesn't materialize!

  10. Did someone say spring? We're bordering on summer already. Spring lasts for ohhh, ehhh, ahhhh... one day, two max. I think today is spring like weather in the 70's, but we'll be in the 80's by tomorrow again. Grrr. Already ready to run the AC!

  11. The onion grass is growing here, and the flowers are still trying. Sunny and breezy and 50 degrees.

  12. Aleta - how big is your back yard? Can I come visit (and bring my cows, so they can calve on the grass)? :)

kcinnova - Sunny and breezy and 50 degrees sounds wonderful....

  13. At least it's the first day, Bag Lady! Great minds think alike! I blogged about it, too. It would be nice to see more signs. My deck doesn't have as much snow as yours does, and there are birds, but, they are still the winter ones!

  14. It would be nice to see more signs of spring. Actually, it would just be nice to see any sign of spring!! :)

  15. Report from the SF Bay Area: fruit trees beginning to blossom, all other previously dormant trees beginning to bud. Forecast for this weekend: cold rain.

Thanks for the report on Northern Alberta. Just wondering, since I live in the city, do the cows just go crazy when they sense Spring is coming?

  16. I woke up this morning to FRESH SNOW! Lucas was not pleased. Not one little bit. Wishing you better luck BL.

  17. It's been spring for awhile, but I do hope we don't get any more cool snaps. It's hard to get motivated to work out when it's both cold AND dark outside!

  18. Conny - thanks for your weather report. Wish the fruit trees were starting to blossom around here... sigh.
On really warm days, the younger cows do sometimes act a little like they have spring fever - jumping and playing like calves! The older cows are much more sedate. (Although I have occasionally caught them acting a little goofy!)

Lucas - I don't blame you for being unimpressed! Sheesh - when is it going to warm up??!!

BG - I hope you don't have any more cold snaps - I fully understand how hard it is to get motivated to do anything when it's cold and dark. :)

  19. Almost! Spring is coming, spring is coming. Today it was almost RAINING instead of snowing. As frustrating as it is to walk on a sloppy sidewalk and get my boots all muddy, I'm too thankful that it's not very cold to mind all that much :D

  20. YES! Bwa ha ha...

  21. I wish it were spring here! It's still pretty cold. It's raining right now and I'm hoping it doesn't turn into snow as it gets chillier tonight. I hate snow on Easter!

  22. Oh, man. It DOES feel like Spring here today. But it's supposed to rain tomorrow night . . .

  23. Sagan - we had some 'almost' rain, too, but mostly big, fat, fluffy snow flakes!

    Marianne, is that you?

Charlotte - we almost ALWAYS have snow on Easter around here... sigh.

Marste - a little rain is a good thing, isn't it? Makes the grass grow.
