Coping and Hoping

A blizzard blew in on Saturday. The snow fell and the wind blew. It was cold and miserable. The temperature is still very cold today.

Here is how the Bag Lady dealt with it:

She really hopes that this is winter's last kick. The forecast is for warmer weather by Thursday, and the Bag Lady hopes that it will continue to warm up and be reasonably mild, because calving is due to start within the next couple of weeks.

  2. I can't believe the amount of snow we have had in just the last week! I am jealous of the fire! (Um, fire place...stove, contained element of nature) Wouldn't want to get that granted in the wrong manner.

  3. We had our first burst of spring on Friday.. 16C but it's been more March-like since. I think we're expecting some of your cooler air by tomorrow. It will get better.. right?

  5. Not so thrilled about the time change here...waking the kids to darkness is not so easy. We are expecting plummeting temps this week...thanks for sending them our way! : )

  6. Thanks for the moment in front of the fireplace.
I am sure everything will settle down and warm up in time for calving season.

  7. It's been pretty warm here, although I am jealous you get a contained area to have a fire.

  8. I woke up yesterday to see more snow on the ground. I was not impressed.

  9. You deserve mild weather after this -- I admire anyone who goes out in all kinds of conditions to care for the animals.

  10. Rupal - thanks - we could sure use some warmth!

Reb - it's crazy, but it's March. And I'm loving the stove!

Hilary - Hubby said he saw on the weather channel that the snow had all melted down your way. We were jealous.

Miz - The time change doesn't bother me much - and it does mean spring is coming.... right?

Marianne - sorry about the plummeting temps, but why should I be the only one suffering?

dfLeah - you're welcome! And I sure hope you're right....

Tricia - the woodstove is the best part of winter!

JavaChick - I know exactly what you mean - I keep telling myself we need the moisture. But wouldn't a nice warm rain be better?

Messymimi - thanks! I hope the warm weather comes soon, and stays.

  11. It was 71F here yesterday. It will be colder today, and back below freezing by the end of the week, but it was a nice bit of encouragement.
I'd send you some of that warmth, but it's upwind all the way.

  13. Our bulbs got encouraged by the warm temps over the weekend and now I worry that another blast of winter weather will kill them off (if the deer don't eat them first).

A nice cozy fire you have there, BL! Enjoy!

  14. Mmmmm...can I get a screensaver of that? :)
We're currently at minus dickedy doo temperatures right now too. I had to dig out all my winter kit this morning...I can't help pouting, as I bought new running pants and want to go running now...with a balmy -41 with the windchill I don't thin ktoday is the day to start :)
Fire seems like a good idea to me-try and keep warm :)

  15. kcinnova - that happens here a lot (with the early bulbs, I mean) If the temp turns cold again, throw some snow over them (if you have any) or cover them with a sheet.

Geo - I can send you a photo of the fireplace for your screen saver! :)
This arctic blast is affecting you, too, by the sounds of things. It's supposed to warm up here by Thursday.... I can hardly wait.

  16. That fire just doesn't look as cozy down here where we're already running the a/c. Want a few farenheits?

    ReplyDelete
  17. BG - I'll take as many fahrenheits as you're willing to part with! :)

  19. I hear ya on the snow. On the ranch we got 3 inches of the white cold stuff. I was really hoping for some spring melt this weekend - but alas, guess I'm strapping on the snowshoes for another month at least. Keep warm!!
