A bale loader that weighs a ton so I couldn't plow would appeal to me.Cheryl Kohanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04021319020150945676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329622951839766826.post-23795043050252929182011-01-23T07:44:11.502-07:002011-01-23T07:44:11.502-07:00kcinnova - it does look forlorn, doesn't it?
...kcinnova - it does look forlorn, doesn't it?

Janell - it warmed up here, finally! It's above freezing, but not quite tank top weather.... at least, not without a sweater over it! :)

messymimi - oh, the old loader is still in working condition and will be used for other tasks that the tractor can't handle, but the old tractor (whose transmission has decided to only work in reverse!) could certainly be sold for parts. If it were up to me, that is. But it's not. (It's still sitting at MIL's in the field where it balked.)

Solarity - yes, it still works fine. The Rancher will use it for the heavier tasks that the tractor can't handle. And yes, the need for back-up is an ever-present reality on the farm/ranch.the Bag Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17434610508260994331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329622951839766826.post-61514667381379185032011-01-21T18:17:15.930-07:002011-01-21T18:17:15.930-07:00See, one of the pleasures of living in the country...See, one of the pleasures of living in the country is that you have room for all this stuff, if you don't have to keep it indoors. One of the not-exactly-pleasures (challenges! that must be the word I want) of living in the country is the need for backups.

Does it still run? Can you do anything with it besides measuring snow? Can you sell it? (to a good home.) Are its parts compatible with any other machinery on the place?

It's just not suitable for a planter, not even for sunflowers.

Mary Anne in Kentuckysolarityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03606487180967915130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329622951839766826.post-75566760159511125152011-01-21T15:15:19.322-07:002011-01-21T15:15:19.322-07:00Tip from a messy person who hangs on to too much j...Tip from a messy person who hangs on to too much junk -- get rid of the old one. Find someone who needs it, saving it for "just in case" or "we might need it someday" will only result in it becoming a lump every winter.messymimihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10649529601786689712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8329622951839766826.post-39786172709176093452011-01-21T14:27:58.137-07:002011-01-21T14:27:58.137-07:00Oh, also wore a tank top to take my walk.
