Friday Round-up

The CowMan and the Bag Lady went to check on the state of their summer pasture last evening. It has been terribly dry here, and they wanted to see how their cows were faring. Whilst they were there, they saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes:

They are very difficult to see in this photo, because they were quite a distance away. She shot this photo at maximum zoom, which (obviously) didn't work very well. The Bag Lady tried to take a little video of them, and although it is terribly blurry, she wants to share it with you so you can hear them calling to each other (turn up your volume a little):

A little later on, the Bag Lady happened upon this:

So ends the "nature-walk" portion of this post.

The Bag Lady had a crazy idea the other night, while she was lying, wide-eyed and sleep-deprived in her bed. She came up with an idea for a game, and wondered if any of you would like to play. She wants to write a "novelette", but never seems to have enough time. She was thinking if she started with a couple of paragraphs, then sent it on to someone else, who would add a couple of paragraphs, then send it on to someone else to add a couple of paragraphs, and so on and so on, when everyone who was interested in playing had their turn, she would publish it on her blog (or all the participants can publish it at the same time). Do you think she is crazy? Needs more sleep?
What do you all think? If anyone is interested in playing along, email the Bag Lady at the address in the sidebar.
Have a good weekend!

Love the cranes! I rate a good bird spot - these look so cool. Thanks for posting the video!

I for one am definitely interested in the paragraph game - I'm always looking for excuses to practice my fiction skills. I will email you so you have my contact details.

Happy weekend!

Bag Lady, your "crazy ideas" are always the best. (As I recall I think you once thought starting your own blog was a crazy idea, and the certainly turned out well!)

I am so tickled you got cranes calling.
Well done!
Is that second video a frog? I'm not quick enough on the draw to be absolutely sure of what I'm seeing.

Deal me in on the revolving novelette.

Love the cranes.
I'm not up for the paragraph game, having given up on writing fiction about 25 years ago when I got taken over by visual arts ideas, but I want to read the results.

Oh, good! You don't all think I'm an idjit! I'll contact everyone who is interested in playing the novel game by email!

TA - thanks! I really was wishing I had a better camera right then. Sigh.

Crabby - thanks so much - as I recall, you had quite a lot to do with my starting a blog, so hope you'll play along with the game! :)

Fitarella - great! How many personalities do you have - just so we know how many times to send the novella back for new paragraphs...:)

Mark - thanks.

dfLeah - yup, little froggy. Hard to keep up with them when they jump unexpectedly. Even though I was waiting for him to jump, and knew he would jump.....
Knew I could count on you to play in the novella.

Miz - was hoping you'd want to play along. This is gonna be so much fun!
We see a lot of your type of crane, too. The sandhill cranes are a lot rarer. I was quite tickled to see them.

Missicat - So glad you want to play along! Send me an email so I have your address when it's your turn for paragraphs!

Mary Anne - are you sure you don't want to play? If you change your mind, drop me an email...I'm thinking this project might/could take more than a day or two!

Well, what a day! Picked loads and loads of raspberries, went on a quick trip in the big truck with hubby, came home in the midst of a thunderstorm, which knocked out our power for over 3 hours!
It just now came back on, so I'm trying to get caught up!
Emily - pretty sure I still have your email address - I'll let you know the logistics sometime over the weekend.
Melissa - glad to hear you want to join in the fun! I'll contact you, too.
Reb - of course you can write - it's only a couple of paragraphs!!
It'll be fun!
